When I became interested in flash off-camera, I was overwhelmed by the information available online and didn’t know where to start!
But I was determined because I knew that it would be incredibly useful for product shots, real-estate shoots, commercial shoots, studio lights, and much more!
It is possible to create your own off-camera setup with the gear I used.
There are many options, but if you have an flash on your camera, this is the best solution. This is not the pop-up, but an external flash mounted on your camera’s hot shoe.
As mentioned above, you will need a flash unit that can be detached from your camera. Most likely, your camera maker makes a few flash models compatible with your camera. Brand name flash units can be expensive.
You can find a number of off-brand flash units which are much less expensive but still work well with this type of setup. These are available at Amazon as well as B&H Video.
