We all want sharper pictures straight out of the camera. We don’t know how to take sharper pictures. You can get sharper pictures the moment you click the shutter — no need to wait until you try to edit it in Lightroom later!
1. MAKE SURE YOU FIXATE YOUR VISION IN THE RIGHT PLACE
Eyes are the first thing that viewers of images look at. The eyes are the first thing that people notice! Your photo will not be as attractive if the subject’s eyes are not sharp, or if the focus is on something else.
So, if you are photographing an individual, 99% of the time
3. Choose Your Focus
It is for this reason that I suggest choosing your focal point. To do this you’ll need to switch your focus mode from Single-Servo Auto-Focus (for still objects) to Continuous-Servo Auto-Focus (for moving objects) on Nikon or One-Shot auto-focus on Canon.
You will then need to switch your AF- Area mode to Single Point auto-focus. You can now select which point you would like to focus on.
It is important to know how to change the settings on your camera and what each mode is called.
4. AUTO-FOCUS NOT A MANUAL FOCUS
One last point. When photographers tout the benefits of manual mode, they confuse many people. I love manual mode, too!
Shooting in manual does NOT mean that you will be manually focusing every shot!
In manual mode, you can choose your shutter speed , aperture and ISO.
Auto-focus is my preferred method of capturing photos.
I only switch to manual focus when my camera has a hard time focusing ( low-light situations, or extreme situations with backlight), or when I’m taking macro photos.
