How to move images between Lightroom and Photoshop
Most photographers, whether professional or hobbyist, use more than one editing software. Most often, these two programs are Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, or Photoshop Elements.
You may not be aware of how well these two programs work together if you’re new to either one or the other.
We will show you today how to quickly move images between Lightroom, Photoshop and Lightroom.
The Best Lightroom Settings for Taking Images to Photoshop
Lightroom will usually “find out” Adobe Photoshop and connect to it automatically. You may wish to change a few settings in order to make the process easier. To make these changes, you will need to go to the Lightroom preferences menu.
-
- PC: Click Edit on the top menu. Then, go to Preferences and click the Tab External Editing.
- For Mac: Click Lightroom at the top left corner. Then, go to Preferences and click the Tab External Editing.
Lightroom will likely find Photoshop Elements if you have it instead (or in conjunction with) Photoshop. If this doesn’t happen automatically, you can select it from the External Editing Tab to add it as a new editor.
You should use the same settings as above, but change the bit depth from 16 bits to 8 bits . Photoshop Elements allows for a limited amount of editing at 16-bit, but it would prevent you from using layers, so I chose to go with 8-bit.
